My approach

A supportive, structured approach to therapy

How I work using Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy

My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), combined with hypnotherapy. I also use mindfulness, and relaxation techniques. CBT is widely recognised for helping with a range of issues - and I use it in a way that’s practical, flexible and tailored to you.

Louise Hudson, a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, chats with a client online. The laptop is on a stand and shows the client's blurred face on a video call or recording. Louise is sitting in a room with a window and framed pictures on the wall.

What to expect

Together, we will:

  • Explore what’s bringing you to therapy and set clear goals in our first 90-minute session

  • Learn techniques and explore tools to manage anxiety, sleep issues, or whatever’s most present for you

  • Soften your inner critic and reconnect with your strengths

  • Build new patterns using personalised resources and recordings

  • Create a toolkit you can return to long after therapy ends.

Session structure

  • Intro call (free, 20 mins): A chance to meet on Zoom and ask any questions before deciding to work together.

  • Session 1 (90 mins): We explore what’s brought you here, your goals, discuss an action plan and introduce some techniques.

  • Sessions 2–4 (60 mins): We will tailor your action plan further and begin to implement it using CBT, relaxation, hypnosis and mindfulness.

  • Sessions 5–6 (60 mins): We review progress and adapt as needed and discuss if further sessions are required.

  • Final session (optional, longer): A space to consolidate your progress and plan ahead.

How many sessions will I need?

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) can be effective quite quickly. Most people start with six sessions and review from there. Some need more time to embed change, others check in occasionally once things are on track.

I also offer one-off 90-minute sessions focused on relaxation, mindfulness and self-hypnosis. These are ideal if you need want to relax and unwind, and would like to explore CBH but are not ready to commit.

Online or in-person?

  • We start with a short Zoom call. Many clients choose to continue online, including hypnosis sessions.

  • In-person sessions are available in Bristol and North Somerset (for an extra £10-15/session).

  • Outdoor sessions in woodland settings are coming soon - let me know if that’s of interest.

Between sessions, you’ll have access to helpful resources - including recordings - to use in your own time. I’ll also be available for brief check-ins if needed between sessions.
