About Louise
I offer calm, compassionate support when
you’re ready for change
A bit about me
Before training as a therapist, I worked in the NHS and voluntary sector developing services for people going through difficult times with mental health, end-of-life care or long-term conditions.
I’ve experienced a few ups and downs in life myself, particularly in my twenties, which left me believing in the potential for change and which drew me to a career supporting people through challenges.
After going through some big life changes of my own in mid-life I felt the pull to retrain so I could work with people directly - first as a mediator, and then as a therapist offering an integrated approach.
I believe that challenging times and endings often contain the potential for new growth. I named my practice Sanguine Therapy after my maiden name, Sanguinazzi.
"Sanguine" means hopeful - especially in the face of adversity. It’s a word that reflects how I try to live, and the feeling I hope to offer to the people I work with.
Nature is a big part of how I make sense of life and change, and it often finds its way into sessions - through imagery, metaphors, or simply as a grounding presence.
Outside work, I spend as much time as I can in the countryside where I live - walking in the ancient woods behind my home, gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. I still have a passion for electronic dance music that hasn’t left me since I lived in Manchester in the ‘90s.
I live with my husband and two cats, and although our grown-up children have moved out, they still come and go - as grown-up children often do.
Qualifications and experience
I'm a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist offering a warm, supportive space where you can begin to untangle what's holding you back and find a way forward that feels right for you.
I’m a Level 5 Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist (HDipCBH), trained by the UK College of Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy. It’s the only course of its kind approved by the British Psychological Society for CPD, and it's grounded in research-based CBT methods.
I’m also a qualified independent mediator, which helps when working with clients experiencing inner conflict or challenges in their relationships.
I hold a BA in History and an MSc in Public Health, and I’ve worked across the voluntary sector, NHS and public health in a variety of roles including those focused on developing services in mental health, end-of-life care and long-term conditions.
I’m fully insured and professionally registered, which means I follow a code of ethics, commit to regular supervision, and take part in ongoing training to support safe, high-quality practice.
I have an enhanced DBS check. You can also see my privacy notice to understand how I use your data.
“I found our time together very useful and more impactful than other therapies I have tried in terms of providing me with tools that I can access easily.”
